Be refreshed in the Lord

The last week of term has been a mixture of cold, windy and warm, sunny weather. A typical Spring week in Whangarei. I have been impressed how our students have maintained a calm, peaceful atmosphere around the school. We are blessed to have a wonderful group of children at Excellere College.

Our mufti day raised $195 for our local surf life saving. We are all looking forward to the warm days of summer, and this contribution will help us stay safe at some of our favourite beaches.

Next term many of our seniors will be preparing for their NCEA exams. We pray that, if required, they spend some time during the holidays revising their learning to date, then return focused on their final efforts next term. For some, this will be the culmination of a long learning journey.

We welcome Jennifer Reiches, from Biola University, California, USA, to Room 1 next term. Jennifer is completing her teacher training with a placement at Excellere College. Following previous successful teachers from overseas we are looking forward to having Jennifer join us, soak up our kiwi hospitality and share her giftings with our students.

This holiday break look to the Lord for refreshment. We may rest our minds from learning, rest our bodies from work, but we also need to seek God’s rest for our spiritual strength. Continue to pray, meditate on the Word, visit church, and find Christian conversation to answer the questions you may have. Remember that the circumstance we are facing is the ‘world’s’ doing, whilst our response to it should be God’s doing.

Enjoy the time with your children, and return next term refreshed and stronger in your Christian journey.
