Jesus … is Truth

Our Year 12 camp, in the Tangihuas, was blessed with good weather and great company. In a rugged part of God’s creation our students developed their teamwork and ‘loving their neighbour’ character traits. We thank our staff for their support of this adventure.

Next week, on Thursday, we have our Easter assembly. Please join us as we celebrate this time of Grace and renewal. Jesus’ death and resurrection restored our personal relationship with God, cleansed us as a temple for the Holy Spirit, and ushered in the Kingdom of new creation. We are now active contributors to growing the Kingdom “on earth as it is in heaven”.
This is the truth that Jesus Christ showed us.

The sixth of N.T. Wright’s “Broken Signposts’ that I will explore is Truth. The discernment of truth-telling is a challenge of our times. In our post-modern world truth is a claim to power and individual opinionism. However, Truth is a project, as it brings God’s new creation into being as an active force.

Jesus is the truth that changed the world, therefore we are commissioned to tell the truth about Jesus, and the fallen world we live in.

“The reason truth is such a paradox in the present time is that the ultimate truth is the new creation, which fulfills the present creation by abolishing death, which has corrupted it.”  (p148)

“But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.”
  John 16: 13 (NIV)
