Level 1 Physical Education

Duration:                      Full Year.

Pre-requisite:               You must have an active interest in physical education.

Course Description:    

This course is an option subject at Year 11 and is designed along with the Health and Physical Education core course to give students an in depth base to be able to continue with Level 2 Health and Physical Education. This subject requires equal amounts of physical activity and book work.

This course focuses on:

  • Students exploring knowledge of body structure and function in various physical activity contexts. The intent of the standard is for learners to describe and explain anatomical, biomechanical and physiological relationships to a variety of physical activities.
    • Taking action to assist others to participate in physical activity.
  • Throughout the year students have the opportunity to demonstrate quality movement in a variety of physical activities. Throughout the year students complete practical in each of these four physical activity contexts and then get marked against skill and game play rubrics.

Skills developed in Health and Physical Education include leadership, teamwork, research, critical thinking, decision making, effective communication, interpersonal and intrapersonal, knowledge and understanding of physical activity and movement, personal and social development, self motivation and physical skills.

Cost:    Students will need money for field trips. Please be prepared to pay for costs of up to $50 for trips throughout the year.
