Olympic Kingdom Glimpses

Our Teacher Only Day, last Tuesday, was very successful with staff reflecting on recent survey responses from parents and students and focusing on the Social Science Learning Area. Thank you for your patience, as children were home for the day. We realise that this can cause extra stress, but the time allows us to work together in this Curriculum Refresh.

It has been interesting watching the Olympic Games, as the world continues to cope with the Covid-19 pandemic. That such a sporting event can still be held is a credit to the organisers, and the courage of the athletes. We have seen the usual outstanding efforts across many sports, and we have achieved highly, as a country. The highlights for me, however, are not the athletic feats on display but rather the acts of friendship and respect seen between the competitors. It is these examples of ‘love your neighbour’ that reflect the fact that God’s Kingdom is among us now, and He is always at work.

‘Once, on being asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, Jesus replied, “The coming of the kingdom of God is not something that can be observed, nor will people say, ‘here it is,’ or ‘there it is,’ because the kingdom of God is in your midst.”

Luke 17: 20-21 (NIV)
